How to maintain your water heater

On a tank type water heater the only maintenance is to flush out and drain the bottom of the tank once a year.  You do not need a professional for that. All you do is connect a hose to the bottom of the drain and turn valve on and allow the water flush out and run clear.

On a tankless water heater you will need to descale annually.  This takes about an hour and is recommended to have a professional to do this.

I like the idea of a water alarm.  It can check the water heater for you, and will alert you when it senses water.  Because we do not know when a water heater is going to fail, it is helpful to have the alarm so that you can catch it before it becomes real bad.  Call me today to get a water alarm detector!
